He swears it''s easier than driving on Bangalore''s roads. Take Kiran Soans up on the offer when you book your turn at TVS Fiero Jump Start, the city''s third bungee jumping event in four years.
Organised jointly by Kiran of Mercureal, an event management agency, Deepa Praveen of Aastha CRM and Ashok and Vinay Sirsi of Ozone, this event will be held at the Palace Grounds, instead of Kanteerava Stadium.
"We''ve included a CRM company because the data collection that happens in an event like this is very high," explains Soans.
In terms of venue, he believes they couldn''t get a better deal. "It''s the greenest part of Bangalore and gives it a more adventure-oriented look." The entire appearance will be rocky, adding to the feel. And the master of bungee jumping Jean Pascal will be brought down for the event. More than 30 per cent of the 39-day event that begins on October 17, is already sold out. "Ozone held it last in 2000. This year, each jump will cost Rs 500 and will include insurance," explains Soans.
You can dial their hotline (98442 72454 or 98442 69494) to make bookings or enter their email-driven site gotakeajump.com to register. "This makes things more organised. You can call and book a slot and they will call you back to confirm the date and timing." It also helps eliminate unnecessary crowds. However, there will be priority bookings for walk-ins at the venue. Soans says that safety will be the number one priority, since they''re also getting the right people to help conduct the event. "Ozone is a backbone of the event as they are the pioneers of adventure sport." The drop will be that of 125 feet, "it''s like falling from Barton Centre''s tenth floor."
Says Praveen Krishnaiah of Aastha, "When you see the tower from below it looks easy, when you start climbing the tower you start sweating and wonder why you said yes, when you get atop the tower you say `no, I can''t do it'', when you fall and the air gushes through your mouth you think you''re going to die. you can''t even begin to explain those three minutes."
